Victor Pasmore - painter, not architect - built one of his reliefs at full scale over a lake in a County Durham new town, and named it for the moon landings. This is the Apollo Pavilion as an architect sees it - accurate in proportion and detail, modelled from real geometry rather than a stylised impression. Interlocking planes and fins cantilevered over the water, slab decks at two levels, staggered openings - pure geometric composition, spanning a lake like a bridge-sculpture. The 120mm x 120mm base includes the surrounding context to scale: the lake beneath, its banked grass edges and the paths of the Sunny Blunts estate - because a building is never just a building. It is where you were standing when it mattered. Vandalised and hated for decades, nearly demolished, restored in 2009 and listed Grade II* - the full redemption arc, over water.
